Beaver Dam
Arizona, Desert Springs, Scenic Arizona and
Littlefield Arizona Community Information
Beaver Dam is
an unincorporated community in Mohave County
located in the extreme northwestern corner
of the U.S. state of Arizona. It is located
along Interstate 15 approximately 10 miles
northeast of Mesquite, Nevada. Beaver Dam is
located in the 86432 zip code, which had a
population of 1,053 as of the 2000 census.
Beaver Dam is home to the three schools that
make up the Littlefield Unified School
District, the geographically largest school
district in Arizona. The schools, Beaver Dam
Elementary & Beaver Dam Middle School, are
located at 3436 E. Rio Virgin Road. Beaver
Dam High School is located just a block up
the road at 3475 E. Rio Virgin Road, with an
overview of the towns and the I-15 Freeway.
Beaver Dam has the distinction of being the
only town in Arizona along I-15. Owing to
its location northwest of Grand Canyon
National Park and west of the Virgin River
it is essentially isolated from the rest of
the state. Travel to other towns within
Arizona requires crossing through either
Nevada or Utah.
The Virgin River Gorge is located just to
the east of Beaver Dam.
Some notable businesses located in Beaver
Dam include the Beaver Dam Station, the
Beaver Dam Bar, Wally's Auto Repair, Coyote
Motorsports and the defunct Hamilton Ranch
Golf Course (now privately owned and not
open to the public), all located along
Highway 91. The Post Office is located in
Beaver Dam on McKnight Boulevard. Fire
Station No. 2 is located in Beaver Dam (No.
1 is located in Desert Springs). Beaver Dam
has a large population of "snowbirds"
(retirees from colder latitudes seeking
temperate winter temperatures) during the
winter months.
Littlefield is an unincorporated community
in Mohave County located in the extreme
northwestern corner of the U.S. state of
Arizona. It is located along Interstate 15
approximately 10 miles northeast of
Mesquite, Nevada. Littlefield is located in
the 86432 zip code, which had a population
of 1,053 as of the 2000 census.
Littlefield is home to the Littlefield
Unified School District, the geographically
largest school district in Arizona.
Littlefield has the distinction of being the
only town in Arizona along I-15. Owing to
its location northwest of Grand Canyon
National Park and west of the Virgin River
it is essentially isolated from the rest of
the state. Travel to other towns within
Arizona requires crossing through either
Nevada or Utah.
The Virgin River Gorge is located just to
the east of Littlefield.
Scenic Arizona is located immediately
adjacent to Mesquite, Nevada. Mesquite
Nevada has consistently grown at a rate of
10% annually, even after September 11, 2001
and is considered the fastest growing city
under 50,000 people in the United States.
Located one hour North of Las Vegas, which
is now considered one of the top travel
destinations worldwide, the Scenic/Mesquite
area will continue to grow in the
foreseeable future. The owners of the Las
Vegas MGM Grand Casino/Hotel are currently
planning a new casino with a 2000 bed hotel
in Mesquite, and a new international
airport, south of town, will begin
construction soon as well.
Mesquite is becoming a very popular
destination for travelers. According to the
Mesquite Chamber of Commerce, approximately
150,000 visitors come there each month. The
principle attractions are golf and gambling,
as well as excellent weather 9 months of the
year. (See Google Map of area)
Sewer and Water
These two parcels lies atop the Bonneville
Aquifer, providing a virtually endless
source of pristine, clear water. The 80 acre
parcel has a well that has been drilled and
is ready for pump placement. The 40 acre
parcel has a well with a pump already
installed. Tests on these wells show the
water to be of the highest quality,
equivalent to bottled water, requiring no
special equipment for filtration.
A local utility company is currently being
formed, which will handle both water and
sewer needs in the community of Scenic.
Current estimates are that this utility
company, known as Sunrise Utilities, is
expected to have a functioning community
water supply and sewer to this property by
Fall of 2008.

Beaver Dam Elementary School is a primary
school serving Kindergarten through Fifth
grades. It is part of the Littlefield
Unified School District. The school is
located in the town of Beaver Dam, which is
in the state of Arizona in the United
States.
Beaver Dam Elementary School maintains a
population of nearly 300.
After years of talk and planning at
Governing Board Meetings throughout the
years, former Arizona Governor Fife
Symington arrived at the old Littlefield
School campus in April 1996 to deliver a
check for $3 Million to the students and
patrons of the Littlefield School District.
This money was to be used for the building
of a new school across the way in Beaver
Dam.
The school first opened its doors for the
1999-2000 school year. The Governing Board
members at the time were Tom Stoddard,
LaRene Layton, Ron Petersen, Rena Moerman
and Cheryl Graham. The Superintendent was
Dr. John P. Broberg, whom was offered
another job at a Washington County School
District school (in Utah) shortly before the
end of the 1998-1999 fiscal year. The School
Board, with Dr. Broberg's help, hired Dr.
Jose L. Trujillo from the Tooele County
School District in Utah.
At the time of the Open House in August
1999, the school was housing Kindergarten
through Eighth grade. After nearly two
years, more students were enrolling and
space was getting tight again! Plans were
out on the table to expand the growing
school. In December 2001 the new East Wing
-- with 5 new classrooms, a set of
bathrooms, a teacher workroom and a
custodial storage room -- was ready for use.
